The work starts from a simple observation: natural systems regulate themselves — they distribute stress, recycle waste, and restore balance. We have the unique opportunity to study the properties and behaviors of these mechanisms, and utilize an urban design perspective to apply this natural intelligence in our built environment.
We look at placemaking through a human lens, inspired by Stephen Kellert's foundational research on biophilic design, to bring the naturally occurring regenerative capacity into the places we shape — considered together at the scale of the landscape, the human experience, and the material detail.

Founding Principal Angela Chinn was born and raised in California, where her love of cities and coastal places took root at age 14. After 15 years working across hospitality, construction, logistics and live events, she built Stormi Applied Computation Design Co. — devoted to making healthy, happy, productive environments the standard for how we build.
